Dental crowns

We offer a wide range of dental treatments to repair, restore and enhance your teeth. We not only create beautiful solutions, but dentistry that blends and harmonises with your natural teeth to create your most brilliant smile.

What are crowns?

Crowns cover teeth that have been broken down or otherwise weakened. We typically advise crowns when people have large fillings, where teeth are broken or poorly shaped, or to strengthen teeth that are prone to root fracture. We also provide crowns to help close wide spaces between teeth to improve smiles and to reduce the risk of food trapping.

Benefits of dental crowns

Crowns go over the whole tooth, covering up any fillings or weakened parts of your tooth, reducing the risk of any further fractures. As well as being much harder-wearing than fillings, they’ll also last a lot longer. These strong and long-lasting crowns can be made from either cast metals or tooth-coloured ceramic materials, or a combination of both, depending on what suits you best.

The process

We’ll make an impression of your tooth and then make a temporary crown to ensure your comfort during the manufacturing process. Your crown will then be fabricated by a dental technician using a model of your tooth to create a natural tooth shape and colour. We’ll then check the crown for fit, shape, colour and bite before cementing it in place. We won’t fit it before you’re 100% happy with your crown.

At Illume we have invested in the newest technology to digitally scan the teeth and in many cases can create the crown while you wait. Saving the time and inconvenience of a second visit.
