Our clients know that visiting Illume is something to smile about, but if you haven’t visited us before, you may have some concerns. Take a look at our most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your visit.
Where can I find Illume?
We’re located near to the Cheltenham Spa railway station. Head to our Contact Us page to find detailed instructions and a map of where to find us.
Do you have parking?
We have a large car park with 10 spaces, including a designated disabled space.
When can I make an appointment?
We have two dentists, two hygienists and a visiting dentist who places implants. With a large team, we’re able to offer times that fit in with your busy schedule.
How long will I have to wait for my appointment?
At Illume, our ethos is that we put the needs of our clients first. And one way we do this is by scheduling appointments that give people enough time to talk about their issues, concerns and desired outcomes. So, while we can’t promise you’ll never have to wait, we can assure you that waiting is very rare.
Will I be judged for my dental health?
We’re here to help you achieve a healthy mouth and a brilliant smile, not to judge or criticise you. We’ll support you to reach this goal, no matter the starting point.
What are your dentists like?
Our dentists have years of experience working in private dental practices and are dedicated to putting clients at ease. In addition to their excellent clinical skills, they’re trained to listen carefully to you to find out exactly what you want or need.
What type of equipment do you use?
We work with some of the most cutting-edge, innovative technology in the field of dentistry. Depending on your preferences, we’ll be happy to explain as much or as little about the equipment we use as you’d like to know.
What is the process?
We’ll arrange a consultation to get a complete picture of your dental health, and what your needs and concerns are. We’ll then create a comprehensive treatment plan, explaining every step of the process and answering any questions you might have.
What guides your decision-making?
At Illume, we offer complete a complete dental service. This means that we not only consider dental function and appearance when making our recommendations, but what will be best for your overall health and happiness.
Will my dental treatment hurt?
While your experience will vary depending on the specific treatment you have, we do everything we can to ensure your visit with us is as pain free as possible. We’ll also provide you with a comprehensive after-care plan to take the best care of your smile.
Will I be able to go back to work afterwards my treatment?
Again, this depends on the treatment you have, but Illume uses the most innovative technology and procedures to ensure you experience as little pain as possible and that you are quickly able to return to your daily routine.
I find oral examinations uncomfortable – is there anything you can do?
If you’re concerned about any element of your treatment, whether you’re worried about levels of pain, or having instruments and fingers in your mouth, then talk to us. We’ll do everything we can do explain the process and make you as comfortable as possible.
Will I be able to speak properly after my treatment?
Depending on which treatment you have, you may be numb for a little while afterwards. However, there is no need to worry, as this wears off pretty quickly. If you do have any concerns, then just talk to us.
Will I have to have an injection?
We understand that some people don’t like syringes and needles, which is why we make sure to keep them discretely out of sight during your procedure. To minimise discomfort, we’ll also use a topical anaesthetic to numb your gums before an injection, when appropriate.
How long will my treatment take?
We’ll always include appointment lengths in your treatment plan, so that there are never any surprises.
When and how do I pay?
We accept cash, cheques and any debit or credit card except American Express. We also offer interest free credit for 12 months.
We offer our Members a 10% or 20% saving on our standard fees for any treatments. We also offer a 5% saving to non-members if they pay for their treatment in advance.
Will I look odd afterwards?
Again, this depends on the treatment you have, but this is question asked most frequently by patients having implants. In this case, there may be a little bruising and swelling, but it will soon return to normal.
Will I be able to chew?
You might be a little numb or partially numb after your treatment, which can make eating a little tricky. However this soon passes, and we will provide thorough after-care instructions.
