Why not enjoy a good night’s sleep this Stop Snoring Week?

Next week (April 24-28) is National Stop Snoring Week and here at Illume we wish to remind clients and members of the wider community that there is a way to help create a good night’s sleep with one of our snore guards.

The sound of snoring is irritating and annoying and can lead to sleep deprivation for both the snorer and sleeping partner.

Tim Rumney, Illume practice owner and clinical director, says: “Figures from the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association show that 41.5% of the UK adult population or 15 million people in the UK snore but the actual numbers affected are more like 30 million people because it is often sleeping partners who suffer the most.

‘’Snoring can result in sleep disturbance, daytime sleepiness and loss of function for both the snorer and the sleeping partner which in turn can result in relationship problems. Some partners who sleep apart from the snorer have feelings of guilt in leaving the bedroom - but they have a right to a good night's sleep.

“Here at Illume, we offer another solution by encouraging snorers to consider using a Somnowell or Sleepwell snore guard, more correctly called Mandibular Advancement Devices, and what better time to consider these options than during this national awareness week?

“You can buy snore guards ready made but they are generally not a great fit and are difficult for people to mould themselves.

“That is why we offer custom made ones ones and believe it is always better to invest more in a professional appliance that will fit more accurately and comfortably and is adjustable.

“Some people find snore guards take time to adapt to but the benefits make it well worthwhile persevering so please contact us for a free consultation to see if you and your partner could benefit,” he added.
