Cheltenham-based dental practice Illume is delighted to be supporting National Smile Month which is running from 14 May to 14 June. The campaign by the Oral Health Foundation aims to highlight three key messages to improve the oral health of those in the UK.
• Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste.
• Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks.
• Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.
Maintaining good oral health is not difficult but many still choose to ignore the most basic day-to-day hygiene routines. How we take care of our mouths affects the entire body. Poor oral hygiene can increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes and even problems with pregnancy.
Tim Rumney, clinical director at Illume, says: “We have been talking about the effects of too much sugar for many years and cutting back on sugary drinks is a really easy way for people to reduce their risk of tooth decay.
“As dentists, we understand your needs and will only recommend intervals between appointments that are essential for maintaining good oral health. So, if it has been a while since your last Healthy Mouth Review please contact us to make an appointment” he added.
