Mother of the bride? Make sure your smile looks as good as your outfit

If your son or daughter is tying the knot next summer, now is the perfect time to start thinking about whether or not your smile could benefit from some attention before the big day.

With all eyes on the bridal party, being a mother of the bride or groom is an exciting and busy time as Illume’s Non-Clinical Director, Alison Rumney, knows only too well!

Alison and Tim’s son Tom is marrying fiancé Sophie next summer, so wedding preparations are a frequent source of conversation in the Rumney household. Alison says, “The wedding industry has changed enormously since our marriage 28 years ago and even the most organised people can be surprised at the long ‘to do’ list and the need to start preparations early.

“Whilst finding the perfect outfit is a high priority on every woman’s list, making sure their smile is looking great isn’t always something they think about until it’s too late.”

Dental bridges, crowns, veneers, implants and tooth whitening can all play an important role in helping to maintain a great looking smile. Planning potential improvements now will mean you’ll be proud of your beaming smile whenever you look at the wedding photos in years to come.

“Weddings are great fun, but for people who may be a bit camera shy they can also be a source of concern,” continues Alison. “Being confident that your smile looks good can be just as important as finding the ideal outfit. I have an advantage here - being married to a dentist means my teeth are the one thing I won’t be worrying about when it comes to Tom and Sophie’s big day next year!”

According to theweddingsecret.co.uk, the most popular month for weddings in the UK is August – 15% of all 2013 weddings took place during this month, with dates in July and September being the next most popular.

Cheltenham offers a huge variety of stunning wedding venues including The Greenway Hotel and Spa, Manor by the Lake, Priors Tithe Barn and Cheltenham Ladies’ College.
